Mascot Towers Emergency Evacuation Project
Client Mascot Towers

Project Detail

Mascot Towers – Although Chris Grays was well known in the industry in 2019, Chris’s capabilities resulted in Grays Rescue being called upon to join the team working alongside industry-leading experts teams and engineering experts in what is an unprecedented and landmark case in Australia’s strata industry, all under the eye of the worlds media

When the emergency evacuation of 132 families and commercial premises was required, Chris Gray stepped up and coordinated this major evacuation and more than three years on, Grays Rescue is still assisting.

From emergency evacuation, dilapidation reporting to litigation and engineering support, Grays Rescue Building Management is who Strata Managers, Engineers and Strata Lawyers have called during these vital times for support at Mascot Tower.

The Birth of Grays Rescue

The Mascot Towers crisis marked a devastating moment for 132 families and several commercial tenants who were forced into an immediate and unexpected evacuation. In the midst of that emergency, Chris Gray stepped forward to coordinate the complex relocation and safety operations required.

From this tragedy, Grays Rescue was born.

Over the following years, our team worked alongside leading engineers, legal experts, and government stakeholders on what became one of the most significant and unprecedented building failures in Australia. The experience contributed directly to the establishment of the NSW Building Commissioner role, reshaping oversight and accountability across the construction industry.

Grays Rescue was the final industry supplier supporting owners and their legal representatives through to the eventual sale of the ten-storey building. This long, challenging journey forged our reputation and expertise in crisis management and large-scale emergency coordination.

Today—six years on—Grays Rescue continues to apply the lessons learned from Mascot Towers to similar structural failures, fire aftermath cases, and high-risk building incidents across New South Wales and Queensland. Our capability has grown, our processes have strengthened, and our commitment to protecting communities remains at the heart of everything we do.

As part of our continued growth, Grays Rescue relocated its head office to Bundaberg, Queensland, in 2026, allowing us to better serve regional and metropolitan areas across both states.
